Holy Name of Jesus School

Holy Name of Jesus School is a private K-8 Catholic School in the inner city in Los Angeles.

We were founded in 1924 by African American families from the parishes of New Orleans and our neighborhood and school community has since grown to include a thriving community of Belizian immigrants. We celebrate a rich cultural heritage as we educate the mind and spirit of children.

We are a fully accredited WASC School and are a Catholic Schools Consortium School, we benefit from funding provided by our parish and school community, grants including the Specialty Family Foundation and Carrie Estelle Doehny Foundation.

Holly Name of Jesus School is one of twenty inner city schools selected for a Challenge Grant for matching funds from the Catholic Education Foundation for a Weingart Foundation Matching Grant that will provide a dollar for dollar match for every dollar raised now thorugh June 30, 2012 to provide scholarships to Holy Name of Jesus School in the 2012 - 2013 school year. Every child at Holy Name of Jesus School enjoys our innovative music program. Each child learns to read music and learns to play a musical instrument. Our acclaimed Children's Choir has performed throughout Los Angeles and is the only school choir to have been asked to sing twice at Our Lady of Angels Los Angeles Cathedral. Our accelerated math and reading programs, religious educaiton, arts and electives provide an exciting academic program.
