BabySteps of St. Michael's Episcopal Cathedral

  • About Us

BabySteps Mission: Supporting limited-income pregnant parenting mothers through education and incentives to promote healthy pregnancies, babies, and families.

Areas Served: BabySteps welcomes all eligible clients and their families that live in the Treasure Valley of Idaho.

BabySteps is an outreach program at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral that began in 2003. Our program supports pregnant and parenting mothers through education and incentives to promote healthy pregnancies, babies and families. The program is open to all low-income families, regardless of age, race, religion, or ethnicity.

Research shows the things a mom does during pregnancy, like getting prenatal care, eating well and exercising can all contribute to a healthy full-term baby. After the baby arrives, nursing, immunizing, reading and talking to the child helps them grow and learn. Every parent wants the best for their baby and BabySteps encourages healthy behaviors. We provide weekly learning opportunities along with an incentive program that brings moms together to support one another in their parenting journey.

Open to limited-income pregnant or parenting mothers and fathers with a child no older than 11 months.

BabySteps offers in-person classes that are both medical and life-skill oriented and are relevant to the age and stage of the child. A monthly calendar listing each class offered that month is posted, as the schedule may change. Participants must attend one class a month to be active in the program. If you do not speak English, an interpreter must accompany the mother or father.

Participants earn points by taking in-person classes, along with doing healthy activities and following up with doctors, WIC, and Telehealth counseling appointments.

Participants can use the points they have earned to purchase items for their family in the BabySteps Boutique.
