About Us

The LAMP (Learning About Multimedia Project) The LAMP's mission is educating people to live, learn and thrive in the 21st century by providing hands-on 21st-century learning opportunities, and focuses on at-risk and underserved populations that do not typically have media programming. Since 2007, The LAMP has engaged over 3,000 youth, parents and educators. We conduct workshops during and after school, through the summer and on weekends. We hold free public events and trainings, and develop interactive online resources to support media learning in classrooms and households nationwide. The LAMP partners with dozens of public schools and community-based organizations. We bring equipment, materials and teachers directly to schools, community centers and libraries throughout New York City. Simply put, we meet people where they are rather than expect them to come to us.
