About Us

*PERU 109 received Honorable Mention from Break Away Network as Host Site of the Year 2010 for Alternative Spring Break Program in Trujillo.*

Peru 109 is a small Peruvian organization based in Cusco (The Incan City) that leads volunteer/community/educational programs exclusively in Peru. Director Juan Carlos and his local staff design the Peru service trips with the goal of not only facilitating positive community change, but also encouraging Peruvians to be active in initiating and maintaining programs that enhance their own communities.

With these goals in mind, all Peru 109 trips focus on interactive community projects that encourage cultural exchange between the Peruvian community and the volunteers. To facilitate this exchange, all interns/volunteers are housed with local host families, with whom they share 3 meals a day during their program. This provides participants the opportunity to not just visit Peru, but be a part of it!.

Peru 109 specializes in programs during winter, spring break, and summer for high school students, college students, families , and independent travelers, all of whom work with nonprofit organizations such as shelter, orphanages, day cares, and public schools during their stay.

Host communities currently include the cities of Cusco (Andes), Trujillo, and Chimbote (Northern Peru).

We invite you to explore our program descriptions to see which trip matches your schedule, skills, and budget. Also, we welcome your suggestions and ideas for additional projects that we can design with you and/or your group in mind.
