Society for International Development - Washington Chapter
- District of Columbia
The Society for International Development (SID), founded in Washington, DC in 1957, is a global forum of individuals and institutions concerned with sustainable economic, social and political development. Today, SID has over 6,000 members in 115 countries and over 75 local chapters worldwide.
Taking full advantage of its location in the financial and policy capital of the international development community, SID-Washington is the most active chapter worldwide and has been referred to as the flagship of the organization.
SID is committed to three principal objectives:
1) to stimulate dialogue and cooperation on global development issues; 2) to enhance skills, knowledge and understanding among development practitioners; 3) to provide a network for individuals and organizations working in various sectors of international development.
SID achieves its mission as a forum for professional development, interaction and exchange among organizations and individuals in the development community through a newsletter, workgroups, and special programs and events -- all of which are a part of the benefits of membership.
