MISSION

NEHDA empowers the Northside community by promoting quality housing, fostering financial security for families, and supporting businesses. As a neighborhood preservation company, we strengthen our neighborhoods by celebrating the rich diversity of the Northside, and we encourage active civic engagement and advocate for community health.

Our Northside community is celebrated for its historic and cultural contributions to Central New York. Neighbors come together to create a healthy, just and vibrant environment where neighborhoods flourish and businesses prosper.

COMMITMENT TO RACIAL JUSTICE

NEHDA is committed to anti-racism and condemns the damage and grief that systemic racism causes in our communities. We denounce the oppressive stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination that has plagued our nation for over 400 years and embrace the newfound sense of empowerment and hope that our future brings. We are committed to constructive dialogue about community topics. At NEHDA we are dedicated to change.

NEHDA promotes civic engagement and social justice. We are accountable to the community, and we are here to find solutions. Through an anti-racist approach to our core services – housing stability, small business development, and increasing family wealth – we can help the whole community move forward in a positive direction. We have work to do, and we are here to do it.

SERVICE AREA

NEHDA has been serving Syracuse’s Northside neighborhood since 1974. We focus on the following neighborhoods: Washington Square, Northside, Lincoln Hill, Hawley Green, and Prospect Hill.
