Cuyahoga County Public Library

  • About Us

    MISSION / VISION

In February 2009, our Board of Trustees approved a new Mission, Vision and reaffirmed our Goals and Priorities.

Recent reductions in state funding and local property tax revenues have presented us with a new challenge – to continue our tradition of excellence and innovation with fewer resources. To meet this challenge, the Cuyahoga County Public Library Board of Trustees has developed a long-term financial plan that emphasizes Convenient, Accountable, Relevant and Effective library service. We’re calling it CARE: A Library for the Future.

    Our Mission

Cuyahoga County Public Library will be at the center of community life by providing an environment where reading, lifelong learning and civic engagement thrive.

    Our Vision

The Library will support initiatives and efforts that impact the quality of life for all in Cuyahoga County. We will be the most convenient public library in the nation and be known for the quality of our customer service. Our branches and website will be centers of excellence and serve as gathering places. Through innovative services and collaborations we will satisfy our community's needs and exceed expectations. Our staff will reflect the diversity of our communities and promote and create an accessible, friendly environment.

    Our Goals

Turn occasional customers into regular customers by providing convenient and personal service that exceeds customers’ expectations and encourages them to rely on the library for more services and programs.

Include our six priorities in everything we do. Refresh current services, develop new partnerships and create best in class initiatives that demonstrate our six priorities and bring them to life.

Be an advocate for our Library by positively representing CCPL through words and actions when interacting with customers, co-workers and community partners.

    Our six priorities:

    Reconnect with reading

Ensure every child enters school ready to learn

Help youth to reach maximum potential

Put Cuyahoga County back to work

Keep seniors healthy, happy and independent

    Connect with new Americans**

Supporting and fostering the reading public remains the core priority of public library service.
