  • Mission

Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit dedicated to ending single parent poverty through higher education with its unique mission: To provide a culture of support, equipping single parents to navigate their futures with confidence.

The Need We Serve: Being a parent is hard. Being a single parent is even harder. They have all of the responsibilities of raising a child, while also having a single income to provide for their kids. In fact, 35% of Arkansas' single parent families live below the poverty line, according to the U.S. Census.

What We Do: ASPSF’s goal is to empower single parent students to stay in school, graduate, and find a job with family-supporting wages. The program includes:

    • Flexible scholarships to help single parents pay for the biggest financial barriers to a degree.
    • Workshops to teach single parents how to manage finances, prepare resumes, and balance responsibilities.
    • Mentoring to provide encouragement and connect single parents with additional resources.

    About Us

Since 1990, Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) has distributed more than $50 million in scholarships to help tens of thousands of single parents. They’re now teachers, entrepreneurs, welders, engineers, managers, and more!

By combining scholarships with mentorship, career-focused workshops, and emotional support, ASPSF provides a true hand-up — equipping parents to succeed in school, work, and life.

Single parent students often outperform their peers academically, but they face greater financial pressure and limited time. ASPSF was created to bridge that gap, and we continue to evolve to meet parents where they are.

Alongside traditional college pathways, we now invest in skilled-trade programs that offer fast, practical routes to high-demand jobs in fields like HVAC, technology, mechanics, and commercial driving — opening doors to opportunity faster.

Today, ASPSF serves single parents in 69 of Arkansas’s 75 counties, including Bowie County in Texas.
