    Our mission is to preserve, develop, perform, and teach the art of Classical and Contemporary Persian dance, an entirely unique artistic aesthetic which dates back thousands of years. Through this mission, we represent Persian-Americans in the Bay Area, (a highly under- and misrepresented group), by creating positive, relevant, non-political images of their artistic/cultural heritage.

    About Us

    We are Shahrzad Dance Academy (SDA), a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization established by Shahrzad Khorsandi in 1996. We are a small arts group that supports and contributes to the diversity of cultural arts in the Bay Area. We also represent and serve the Persian-American community by offering community-based Persian Dance classes and workshops and instructional and performance DVDs in Persian dance. We provide an opportunity for Persian-Americans to learn about their own dance heritage. We also provide a forum in which Persian- and non-Persian-Americans can relate to each other in non-political ways, and create and present a positive cultural relationship.
