About Us

LIU Global is the only Global Studies program in the nation that integrates a series of year-long cultural immersions into a progressive, four-year Bachelor of Arts degree. During its 52-year history, LIU Global (previously the Friends World Program and Global College) has established itself as one of the nation's leading experiential education programs, providing an individualized international experience as well as a broad-based liberal arts education from one of the largest, most comprehensive private universities in the country. Students study at our centers and programs in Costa Rica, India, China, Australia and Brooklyn and have the options of participating in the traveling Global Issues in South American program that goes to Ecuador and Peru as well as the Comparative Religion & Culture (CRC) program that goes to Taiwan, Thailand, India and Turkey. It is also possible to study abroad with us for a semester or a full year, or participate in our Summer Program in Costa Rica. Our contemporary curriculum is based on global issues, active participation, cross-cultural understanding and independent studies.

Freshmen attend the Costa Rica center for the foundation year. Sophomores choose between an academic year in India or participate with the one-year Comparative Religion & Culture program (CRC) and travel to Turkey, Taiwan, Thailand and India. Juniors can choose between China and CRC for an academic year or the Ecuador and Peru program for the Fall semester. We also offer a spring semester option in Australia. The final year of the program begins with an independently designed research project in a location of the student's choice and culminates in a semester in New York City, where students complete a series of capstone experiences and write a senior thesis before graduating with a B.A. in Global Studies.

LIU Global is a discrete educational entity of Long Island University, with its own course content, faculty, staff, graduation requirements and internal governance procedures. The degree and certificate programs also are approved and registered by the New York State Department of Education.
