Canary Housing, Inc. - a cooperative

We are a small group of people disabled with Environmental Illness. Accessible housing is the single most important issue to manage this degenerative disability, but there is no affordable/accessible housing in NYS, and no funding path. We have pooled our resources and purchased a site to renovate into three accessible apartments. We are a scattered site, limited equity, administered as a cooperative non-profit. We lost our loan just as Covid hit due to increased interest rates and material costs. We need to upgrade our web site to encourage donations and find a low interest loan, or recapturable grant. The federal Govt. defines "accessible" as wheelchair accessible and people who have gotten sick from working with chemicals often life in cars or tents because most of what they used to do now makes them seriously ill. Accessible housing is the single most important issue to manage the disease process and we are trying to help ourselves since people are in such desperate need.
