    Our mission is to end unexpected infant mortality through education, support, medical services and research.

    About Us

    Founded by Richard A. Hardoin, M.D.,F.A.A.P., and Judith A. Henslee, LMSW, the Southwest SIDS Research Institute exists to provide medical, educational, support, and research services to families and caretakers of SIDS, high risk, and normal healthy infantsWith the initial support of Dow Chemical Co., Texas Division, and the generous contributions of the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation of Midland, Michigan, the Institute opened its doors in November, 1984. Within a few years the Institute became a United Way participating agency. United Way funding has enabled the Institute to provide comprehensive medical services on a sliding scale basis. Educational and counseling services are available free of charge. The Institute is located at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, Texas, providing medical services throughout the state of Texas. Support, education, and research services are provided throughout the United States.
