About Us

The PAVA Foundation was set up in the memory of Professor Paul A.V. Ansah (PAVA), a Patriot who fearlessly fought for press freedom, and did not keep silent on the triumphs and ills of his motherland Ghana. The “Monday Morning Terror” was known for his incisive and fearless commentary on the socio-political events of his day. He was, in his own words, “a Christian, a Scholar and a Gentleman.”

The Foundation will preserve the legacy of PAVA through events, publication of his writings etc, and will continue his work via three main channels:

  1. MEDIA EXCELLENCE - provide capacity building, mentoring and other opportunities for journalists in Ghana as part of a larger effort to entrench media excellence.
  2. COMMUNITY/CIVIC/SOCIAL ACTIVISM - educate citizens about their rights and responsibilities, and engage them in projects that drive socio-political progress in local communities.
  3. ACADEMIC PURSUITS - fund research, awards, competitions etc. of students at multiple levels of education, and celebrate the academic excellence that PAVA stood for.

Ultimately, the Foundation aims to spearhead and contribute to the efforts to entrench press freedom, excellence in journalism and mass media communication across the continent of Africa. It’s Core Values emanate from PAVA –Justice, Integrity, Courage, Excellence and Sacrifice.
