About Us

Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley (EB) is the oldest and largest bilingual school in the East Bay. We have 525 students in preschool through eighth grade, over 40 nationalities represented in the school community, and teachers who have lived and taught all over the world. EB is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and the French Ministry of Education.

Our mission is “To educate a diverse population of boys and girls, inspiring them to strive for academic excellence and to develop a high sense of personal and social responsibility. We offer a challenging and rigorous course of study in both French and English, set in a multicultural environment. We support each student in the acquisition of skills and the development of character necessary for citizenship in an increasingly complex world.”

Governed by a 22-member Board of Trustees, the School has an operating budget of approximately $10 million, including a financial aid allocation equal to 7% of tuition revenues and subsidies from the French Government equal to 10% of tuition revenues.
