    The BookWorks program help to instill a love of reading in children to prepare them for tomorrow's workforce. This helps support Goodwill-Suncoast's mission of helping people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work.

    Within the last couple months, Goodwill-Suncoast has opened a new location in the Oxford/Wildwood Area and in doing so extending the BookWorks program to Sumter County. Goodwill’s BookWorks program is designed to instill a love of books and reading and to encourage self-sufficiency.

    BookWorks brings together volunteer readers and children from low-income households to promote childhood literacy. Volunteers read to preschool children at Head Start centers and other locations and then present each child with a book of their own to take home. BookWorks also provides books to elementary classroom, Kindergarten to 2nd grade, in order to continue to help children with their school readiness.
