Chicuchas Wasi

  • About Us

Chicuchas Wasi (CW) promotes gender equality, self-esteem, and human dignity for indigenous girls of Cusco by educating, empowering, and preparing them for economic independence and opportunity. CW began in 1987 focused on their society’s tolerated human rights violations of abandoned children, surviving alone on the streets of Cusco. CW created a safe house including nutrition, health care, school and life skills, but realized this was a band-aid approach. Recognizing the need for girls education, CW reorganized in 1997 to prepare and educate poor girls to become future leaders for social change, to end gender inequality, female abuse and child abandonment
