  • About Us

    OUR VISION

    Begin the legacy.

The Legacy Initiative (TLI) is a 501c3, public charity, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people and adults. It was formed in 2009 to identify and effectively address the root causes of the multitude of issues and challenges that residents of underserved and distressed communities continuously face. Underserved and distressed communities, as defined by TLI, are communities with demographic, geographic or economic characteristics that impede or prevent their members from gaining access to quality products and services that can improve their quality of life.

At TLI, we believe that the most consistent challenges facing underserved and distressed communities are:

    • Persistent underemployment or unemployment of community members
    • Low academic performance of youth
    • Lack of exposure to high-skill, high-wage career opportunities
    • Lack of clear, accessible pathways to high-skill, high-wage careers
    • Lack of financial management skills

TLI transforms the lives of community members by providing the guidance, support, training and mentoring needed to secure long-term, high-paying career opportunities that lift families out of poverty. Unlike other workforce development programs, Legacy includes contingencies for the social, emotional, educational and economic hurdles facing underserved community members – hurdles that have robbed them of opportunities to excel.

By using strategic collaborations to harness new and existing resources from industry, education, community-based organizations and government, Legacy creates communities in which members possess the knowledge, resources and collective voice to bring about progressive and sustainable changes.
