  • About Us

Based in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala’s second largest city, UTQ is the largest labour organisation outside the capital. UTQ is particularly focused on supporting workers and members of society who face repression and discrimination as a result of their identity or socioeconomic status. The organization has a long history of working for the rights of women, the indigenous population, agricultural laborers, and workers in the informal economy who do not have access to traditional union and legal support such as the street vendors in Xela's famous outdoor Democracia market.

UTQ is made up of over 30 affiliated groups, including labour unions, community groups, and cultural organisations and has a membership of over 10,000 men and women.
