About Us

About the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith and Local Communities (JLI)

The JLI is an international collaboration of international development organizations, UN agencies, academic institutions and religious bodies on evidence for faith groups’ activities and contributions to humanitarian and development goals. Through research and evidence work, we seek to understand the appropriate engagement of the capacities of faith-based groups in the achievement of these goals through effective partnerships with public sector and secular entities, as well as among religious groups themselves. The JLI currently hosts Learning Hubs on Anti-Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, Ending Violence Against Children, Gender-Based Violence, Refugees and Forced Migration, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning. We also conduct projects with various humanitarian and development actors on their faith engagement, such as UNICEF, Islamic Relief, Tearfund and many others.
