About Us

The Santana HouseYouth ActionCenter in Lincoln Heights was created by teens for teens as part of the Violence Intervention Program, with a mission to involve young men and women in the leadership capacity to build positive futures and prevent violence in their own lives, homes and communities. Santana House programming is shaped and monitored by a Teen Board of Directors and includes:

Urban Art: Art Instruction taught by an LA muralist

Learning in Full Effect: Assistance with college applications, resumes and homework

Sound Art: Music instruction and band practice

Street Poets: Spoken word, writing and poetry group

Theatre: Teens create and present original plays about contemporary social issues to young audiences around the city

Hip Hop dance: Dance instruction and practice

Cooking: Guest chefs guide young men and women as they cook (then eat) delicious, nutritious meals
