About Us
Foster Grandparent Program was established in 1965 through National Community Services. Focus to place low to moderate income seniors to engage with youth in their communities. Providing tax exemption to receive hourly stipend, mileage reimbursement, with benefits to include 12 paid holidays, earned paid time off. Adult volunteers aged 55 and above are place in area schools, daycares, shelters, foster care Residence, child development facilities. Volunteers will provide one-on-one tutoring/mentoring or children in small groups, serving children who are considered high risk, or exceptional needs. Placement is based on volunteer's will be matched to fit with appropriate workstation and fill the community need. Volunteers are provided meals at most stations while serving. Plans will be developed to measure the child's direct needs and regular evaluations will help in measuring the overall outcome for the child, rather it be socially and emotionally or academically.
