Inet Entertainment has been actively supporting black and brown youth in the Boston community since the inception of the organization in 1993. However, due to one of our founders leaving the organization in 2005, we needed time to restructure internally and reshape the size of our offerings. While this work has continued for each of our volunteers and board members on an independent level, we realized that the need is more dire now than ever and it is time to actively put our team back together for the future of the children in Boston. After reading the Boston indicator report from 2004 we found that Boston has fewer arts and cultural resources in "kid-intensive" neighborhoods like Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. These are the primary target audiences for Inet Entertainment. Arts participation programs as well as childcare or afterschool care in Boston are in high demand according to the 2021 Boston indicator report which has labeled this a childcare crisis. We believe that the work at Inet Entertainment is a prime example of a cultural endeavor firmly entrenched in Boston's economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. We are excited to get back to our communities in a way that will really support them through not only systemic inequities but during a pandemic where children and families are really in need of resources, art, and hope all around.
