  • Mission

We aim to improve the lives of children diagnosed with rheumatic diseases and support their families through the financial challenges that come with managing these conditions.

    About Us

We began with a little girl named Abby, who was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) at just 20 months old. Initially, her parents were relieved to hear it was "only arthritis." But their relief quickly turned to shock as they discovered the harsh reality: JIA is the leading cause of acquired disability in children, affecting 300,000 kids in the U.S.-more than cystic fibrosis, juvenile diabetes, and leukemia combined.

Despite its prevalence, there is little awareness about juvenile arthritis and other pediatric rheumatic diseases. This lack of knowledge often leaves affected families isolated and unsupported. Abby’s parents realized they weren’t alone in their struggles and saw the pressing need to create change.

What started in 2011 as a walk team raising funds for arthritis research grew into something much bigger. By 2017, Abby’s Army transitioned into a non-profit organization dedicated to directly supporting families of children with JIA and other pediatric rheumatic diseases, such as lupus and juvenile dermatomyositis. This evolution was driven by a commitment to provide financial relief and build a community of awareness and support.
