NIDO DE ESPERANZA CHARITABLE SOCIETY

  • Mission

Our mission is to support families in creating a strong foundation for their babies in those critical 1,000 days of life, helping them thrive through adversity and disrupting long-term financial poverty. Everything we do stems from that single mission.

    About Us

Nido empowers low-income families to thrive during the first 1,000 days of a child's life through holistic one-on-one parent coaching sessions, perinatal care, parent education, literacy, food assistance, material goods support, and community. We were established in 2016 as an initiative of Christ Church New York City and became an independent 501(c)(3), serving the community of Washington Heights/Inwood, in 2018. All the mothers in our program work directly with a social worker and join a community of other mothers. Our goal after three years in our program is to transition the child to a high-quality pre-K or Head Start program. To date, 90 percent of the babies in our program have "graduated" to a high-quality pre-K or Head Start program.
