Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands

The Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to promote the healthy development of children through the nurturing of continuing, one-to-one friendships with caring, responsible adults, supported by trained professional staff.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters ("Bigs") are 18 years of age and older. They come from a huge range of backgrounds, cultures and life experiences. They are all compassionate, caring adults who enjoy spending time with children and want to help them reach their full potential. Our Bigs are carefully screened by our professionally trained staff before being matched with a child. This screening process includes references, criminal background checks, and a personal interview.

On the Cape and the Islands, we are able to enroll children age 7 to 12 years old ("Littles"). They must have a desire to be a part of the porgram and could benefit from an additional positive adult influence in their lives.

"Bigs" meet with their "Littles" one-on-one for a few hours every other week. Whether it be riding a bike, taking a walk, playing catch or just hanging out--the time spent together is always memorable! This is a free prgram with a proven impact. The match commitment is one year, though many "Bigs" and "Littles" opt to continue beyond this time frame.
