The Michigan Land Conservancy is unique among conservancies in that we primarily serve as an intermediary in the acquisition and protection of land. The Michigan Land Conservancy is able to act quickly to acquire parcels which are threatened by development. We then work to transfer those lans, with appropriate restrictions, to other conservation organizations or government entities for permanent protection and stewardship.
Whenever possible, the Michigan Land Conservancy will attempt to recoup some or all of its costs by selling the property to the recipient organization. In this way, we can continue to invest in additional land protection efforts, becoming a revolving fund for conservation.
