Dumbo Arts Festival
At its core, New York City is a community of artists. And for decades, they have flocked to Gotham in droves from all the corners of the globe to revel in the city’s overt commitment to the arts. Classic and contemporary art is celebrated almost everywhere. World-renowned museums such as the Met, the Guggenheim, and MOMA all do their part to exhibit and highlight art, but Brooklyn in particular has become a thriving enclave for contemporary artists to live, work, and create. In its 15th year, the DUMBO Arts Festival seeks to highlight Brooklyn’s commitment and presence in the arts community. Each year, the DAF exhibits and celebrates the best in local, national, and international art all amid the breathtaking backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline Imagine artists working in their studios, musicians and street performers appearing out of nowhere, artists creating murals before your eyes, poets reciting to passers-by, kids enjoying puppetry and music, DJs spinning in the streets, and wildly creative art installations everywhere.
The DUMBO Arts Festival is a feast for the senses that attracts 200,000 visitors over 3 days with the participation of over 500 artists from a variety of disciplines, 100 studios, 50 galleries and stages and 100 programming partners. This year, the Festival will take place on Friday, September 28th, Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th.
