Madison Ballet is a registered 501(3)(c) non-profit, professional performing arts organization which holds as its mission to promote appreciation and access to ballet by providing training and performing opportunities through professionally produced productions and educational initiatives. Madison Ballet’s programs currently include a focus on providing quality arts experiences for youth throughout central Wisconsin. In 2013-14 nearly 30,000 people participated in one of Madison Ballet’s programs or attended a performance including over 6,000 children.
Madison Ballet’s objectives are these three main areas:
- Providing access for diverse audiences to experience professional productions and quality dance education
- Providing performance opportunities for young dancers and outreach programs for youth
- Providing opportunities for professional dancers, musicians and technical crew
Madison Ballet is uniquely positioned to combine the professional performing arts with a youth development focus. The organization makes a significant and lasting impact on the community and the lives of thousands of area youth every year.
The School of Madison Ballet opened its doors in the fall of 2005 and has since welcomed over 800 students into its studios. Grounded in comprehensive, classical ballet training, classes offer the highest caliber instruction from SMB's faculty of experienced professionals, where each student develops to his or her highest possible level of individual achievement. Students experience the joy of creative expression while developing poise and self-confidence that extend far beyond the dance studio.
