  • Mission

We are committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned, injured and displaced wildlife and the successful release of as many of our patients as possible back into their natural environment. We aim to take action and educate our communities with regards to living with urban wildlife and to ensure the protection of all natural resources. It is our vision to instil passion and compassion for the environment we live in and those creatures we share it with, through targeted action and education.

    About Us

CROW is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitate and release of injured, orphaned and otherwise displaced wildlife. Our goal is to release our patients back into the wild, to live out their lives in their natural surroundings.

Founded in1977, CROW is currently one of South Africa's longest-serving wildlife rehabilitation centres. Run by a small yet highly dedicated team of staff and volunteers, CROW helps over 3000 wild animals in distress from across KwaZulu-Natal every year. In addition to it's wildlife rehabilitation services, CROW is also committed to educating the public about the importance of wildlife protection and environmental conservation.

Sadly, over 90% of the animals that are admitted to CROW every year have been injured, orphaned or displaced as a result of human interference, negligence or abuse. Be it through habitat loss, litter and pollution, poaching or a lack of education, our wildlife is increasingly under threat.

Professional wildlife rehabilitation is a specialised, time and resource-intensive operation. CROW currently does not receive any government subsidies and is therefore totally reliant on the generosity and support of the public.

From helping to care for our wildlife patients and maintaining our facilities to lending a hand with marketing and fundraising events all volunteers from across the globe are welcome at CROW.
