About Us

The Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute and the DDPI Board were established in 2009. We are  an international not-for-profit organization based in New York City.

History of the Board

The Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute was set up as a training and certification institute for mental health professionals working with children in foster care and adoptees, their caregivers and families.

The DDPI Board is an international board and its current members live and work across multiple time zones in Canada, England, and the USA.

DDPI Board Vision, Mission and Objectives

Vision

The Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute is dedicated to training therapists and practitioners to work with children who have experienced developmental trauma and provides a therapy and parenting approach rooted in attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology.

The goal is to help children improve the security of their attachment to their caregivers and develop relationships that are more consistent with mental health. DDP is effective for children who may reside in foster care, adoptive families, residential care or in birth families.

Mission Statement

The Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute (DDPI) is a not-for-profit organization. It aims to educate, facilitate, promote and advance Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Dyadic Developmental Practice.  The DDPI provides a robust certification of this internationally.
