Aukum Fairplay Fire Safe Council

To mitigate liss of life and property in the AFFSC area from the effects of catastrophic wildfire through Community education, mobilization and action working with other Fire Safe Councils ans Stakeholders, agencies and organizations.

The AFFSC area includes a diverse community of more than 1400 parcels ranging from one acrea or less subdivisions lots to large ranches. The California Dept. Of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) classifies this area as Very High Fire Hazard. Our Council is all volunteer residents (14 all 60 + years old) and facilitate 2 big community events to provide a resource to clear their property a defensible space to help the survivability of their home from a wild fire. Our events are labor intensive from chainsawing, unloading green waste(branches, tree limbs, etc) and moving wood. Most of our community is in the 55 + and older age range so it's hard for them to do the actual hands on work needed. Our Council is about Community and being good neighbors. We provide education on how to be FIRE SAFE to the community. We are an Associate Council of the El Dorado Fire Safe Council.
