Brightline is a policy advocacy non-profit that works to promote sustainability in otherwise vulnerable communities. Our focus is on quality-of-life improvements in low-income communities and communities of color, particularly those historically polluted by dirty power plants. Our environmental justice and workforce development campaign victories have had major impact across the country.

Brightline led the campaign for the nation's most comprehensive mandatory local hiring policy, which was championed by Supervisor John Avalos and adopted in December 2010. Our law has created thousands of local jobs and has put millions of public works dollars into the hand of local workers in our local communities, leading Mayor Edwin Lee to declare September 29, 2011 "Brightline Defense Project Day" in San Francisco.
