Newark Legacy Charter School

Newark Legacy Charter School is a renewed charter school in Newark, New Jersey that welcomed its first group of scholars in August 2010. Modeled after the nation's most rigorous college-preparatory programs, the school's mission is to provide K-8 scholars with the scholarship, discipline and character necessary for them to gain entry to, succeed in, and graduate from demanding college-preparatory high schools. The school is grounded in the belief that all children, regardless of background, deserve to have access to a high-quality, free public education that will liberate them from a life of limited options, ultimately enabling them to become the masters of their own destinies. We use an intense teacher selection process to attract the best teachers, and we are committed to providing the collegial professional environment that will allow teachers to thrive and grow.
