About Us
Focus on the Story supports and encourages photographers of diverse backgrounds to use visual storytelling to bring attention to critical issues, bridge cultural gaps and spark social change.
Focus on the Story accomplishes its mission in four ways:
• Organizing regular photography exhibits and talks, including an annual festival, around important regional, national and global issues
• Providing resources, grants and training for visual artists so that they can better document and tell stories that are important to their communities
• Working with nonprofits to help them tell their stories, amplifying the impact of their programs for fundraising and other uses
• Promoting powerful, impactful storytelling through the FOTS website and printed publications.
