About Us

The mission of the Stony Brook University College of Business is to create leaders who have the knowledge, integrity, and originality to drive enterprise in the 21st century. The hallmark of our programs is a pragmatic, applied approach toward business management that includes a high level of engagement with the business community. Students participate in dynamic learning communities with innovative educational approaches focused on leading edge management practices. We foster an international learning community with students from diverse parts of the world and a program designed to prepare students for a business world marked by globalization. Overall, we seek to give students a competitive advantage from a practical business program that emphasizes interdisciplinary education, innovative business practices, and socially responsible leadership.

Stony Brook University is part of the prestigious invitation only, Association of American Universities (AAU), and accredited by Middle States, and offers MBA programs that combine a comprehensive and purposeful business curriculum with personal attention from expert faculty. Our programs entail industry projects, internships, and a true dedication to student teamwork – allowing students to build a portfolio of “real-life” accomplishments that they can take with them as part of their career experience. Courses are taught by senior Stony Brook faculty with decades of experience, and are complemented by key executives recruited as adjunct professors from throughout the tri-state region-industry leaders who have built stellar careers in today’s global business world. Our MBA students complete our programs as leaders ready to take on the complex challenges of the business world.

MBA Programs, which are offered at affordable New York State tuition, include full time, flexible part time & executive programs, and innovative combined degree programs. Prior work experience is not required for our full time 60 credit program, or our combined degree programs, which capitalize on the great resources found on the Stony Brook campus. Combined degree options include Computer Science, Public Health, Public Policy, Art History, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and the Medical degree. Students with greater than 5 years post undergraduate work experience or who have already attained a master’s degree, qualify for our 48 credit program, which can be taken full time, or part time in weekday night and Saturday classes. With either program, students receive a broad business foundation comprised of 36 credits and then take a concentration in one of the following subject areas: management, marketing, finance, accounting, innovation, health care management or human resources management.

The program can be started in the Fall or Spring semester, and course are also offered in a 3-week Winter session and two 6-week Summer sessions. Students are required to complete an internship program, usually done in the Summer after their first year. Stony Brook has a full service career center which helps students with various job searches, resume development, and a myriad of workshops and career fairs throughout the year. With such close proximity to Manhattan, many students find internships there and even take the train directly from the Stony Brook campus.

The College of Business also features an optional study abroad program to Greece each Summer, where MBA students can achieve 3 credits and travel on a 10 day study program.
