  • About Us

We work to create a world free of homo-bi-trans-phobia and other forms of prejudice by telling the truths of people's lives. SpeakOut is a gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender speakers bureau.

SpeakOut was founded in 1972 as the first GLBT speakers bureau in the nation. In our nearly 30 years SpeakOut has reached thousands of people, opening minds and hearts as we share our experiences and lives.

Our volunteer speakers are hundreds of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people and heterosexual allies, from greatly varied cultural and religious backgrounds. They volunteer their time to try to make the world a better, more open and accepting place. In the past year SpeakOut youth and adult volunteers conducted over 200 speaking engagements, telling their stories to all kinds of audiences including public and private universities, colleges, high schools, and elementary schools, businesses, hospitals, government agencies, churches, synagogues, youth groups, and community service organizations.
