Action Read Community Literacy Centre of Guelph

Action Read Community Literacy Centre is a registered non-profit charitable organization in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Since 1987, Action Read’s mission has been to help adults and families reach their literacy, numeracy and other essential skill goals for further independence, training and employment. Our programs are free, learner-centred and offered in accessible spaces. In our Adult Program, learners can access one-to-one tutoring, small group or computer-based learning. Many of our almost 200 learners have other challenges in addition to low literacy such as poverty, physical disabilities, learning challenges and so on. We offer financial support for childcare and transportation to qualifying learners. Our Early Start Family Literacy Program provides opportunities for parents/ caregivers and preschool aged children to engage with each other in early learning activities. We are supported by numerous government and community funders, partners and individual donors, as well as over 120 volunteers who support the delivery of our mission each year.
