The Belk Foundation invests deeply in public education—specifically K-3 achievement and excellent teachers and leaders, both critical building blocks for successful education.As a private, family foundation, we actively seek like-minded partners throughout Atlanta, Birmingham and Charlotte who share our vision. But we don’t just invest with money. We invest with time, with advocacy, with action. We pursue our mission with a hands-on approach, working “on the ground” and learning by asking thoughtful questions of smart people who have experienced success in education first-hand: effective teachers, administrators of schools that have defied the odds, leaders of like-minded organizations who are exceeding their goals. We build relationships with high-achieving organizations and results-oriented school systems in the hopes that, together, we will be catalysts for lasting change.
