  • Mission

Our mission is to help cultivate a vast network of partnerships to ensure food is not wasted and people do not go hungry and that all excess green waste is then diverted to animal husbandry and green spaces (compost).

    About Us

Each week we collect excess food from farms, community trees, gardens, restaurants, and supermarkets that we distribute to roughly 3,000 in need Angeleños. All excess green waste is diverted from landfills, where it would have created methane, to animal husbandry and green spaces (compost).

Our distribution hub is at UCLA University Village although we collect food, build community gardens and distribute food throughout LA.

In roughly three years we’ve been able to divert four million pounds of food from going to waste. We have fed over a quarter of a million people and had over 3,000 volunteers log over 12,000 volunteer hours in support of our mission.

Nourish LA was started at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic by Natalie Flores, a passionate gardener, community advocate, urban farmer, and non-profit professional. Her efforts are complimented by the work of a dedicated Board of Directors, a handful of independent contractors, pro-bono professionals, and an army of community volunteers. We have been profiled by The New York Times, CBS This Morning, LA Weekly, and numerous other outlets.
