About Us

The National Institutes of Health have named chronic stress the global epidemic of the new century, and has conformed that the workplace is, by far, the primary source (and of course this is even more acute, as companies, classrooms and government agencies are suddenly grappling with COVID-19). 

Chronic stress and illness are a result of job insecurity, overwhelming work pressure, information overload, digital distraction, unconscious bias and conflict in the workplace. This is not just very unpleasant, it’s killing us - in fact, chronic stress is the leading contributor to the 9 leading causes of premature death in America. 

It’s time for our business, education and government leaders to recognize the scale of the problem, and begin to provide the knowledge and tools to help their people deal with the emotional fallout of the 24/7, always-on, ever-changing, always uncertain, attention economy. 

The Institute for Organizational Mindfulness is a new non-profit association, with a mission to bring neuroscience and performance-focused mindfulness into the business, educational and government mainstream. We’re looking for several great people to help us drive this message through the corridors of corporate America and Washington.
