Gilda's Club South Jersey
Gilda's Club South Jersey's mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.
Gilda’s Club South Jersey offers a community of support and education to children, adults, families, and friends who have been impacted by cancer, at no cost to participants. People gather at our clubhouse to learn, share their experiences, gain support from others facing similar situations, and true to our namesake, Gilda Radner, have a few laughs along the way.
Our innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, which provides networking and support groups, workshops, education and social activities for anyone touched by cancer. GCSJ’s evidence-based program reduces the chances/onset of depression and enriches the quality of life for men, women, teens, and children impacted by cancer.
GCSJ opened our “red door” January 7, 2003. One of 50 affiliates of the Cancer Support Community, GCSJ offers comprehensive educational, psychological and social support to people living with cancer and their loved ones as an integral part of conventional medical treatment. Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational and social workshops, and mind/body/spirit programs, people affected by cancer learn coping skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation, and restore hope while learning to live with cancer. The full range of support services include drop-in and on-going support groups, networking groups for specific cancer types, educational workshops, stress management sessions, lectures by experts in the field of oncology, and social gatherings. All programs, services and educational materials are offered free of charge to all participants. Licensed professionals facilitate all groups offered throughout the week during day and evening hours.
While the majority of our members come from the southeastern portion of the State, we are the affiliate chartered to serve the eight southern counties: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, southern Ocean and Salem.
