About Us

MISSION

Our mission is to equip and empower the children and youth in Central Cleveland with resources and opportunities to reach their potentials.

HISTORY OF LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRY

It all began in 1980, when Willoughby First Presbyterian Church (presently, Willo-Lake Church) donated a 1962 GMC school bus, our first "church on wheels", Heaventrain. Its purpose was to provide biblical, relational, and physical nourishment to the families in Central Cleveland by bringing Christ's message of love, creating community, and filling hungry bellies.

With a will to do more, a storehouse food distribution program began in 1982, and from there the ministry kept growing. Finally in 1995, Lighthouse was incorporated! Soon after, our youth mentorship programs were birthed, using basketball, tutoring, and small groups to foster team-building and leadership development.

We believe teaching a child how to fish will equip him with the knowledge and skills that will continue to sustain him and improve his future. We envision a holistically restored community with indigenous leaders taking part in the transformation of Central Cleveland.
