Building One NJ
Building One New Jersey (formerly New Jersey Regional Coalition) is a statewide organization of community leaders from diverse sectors – including municipal, school, faith, business, labor and civic – who are joining together to stabilize and revitalize their communities, reinvigorate local economies, and promote regional opportunity and sustainability. BONJ was launched in 2003 to address the inequities caused and intensified by regional divisions that lead to structurally diminishing tax bases and declining schools, neighborhoods and municipal services. BONJ worked on the issue of school finance reform and property taxes, winning a legislative victory in 2009 that increased state funding to diverse, fiscally challenged school districts. BONJ also won a major legislative victory in 2008 on state housing reform that promotes economically diverse communities and reduces the concentration of poverty. BONJ is a non-partisan, non-profit organization and works in partnership with Building One America.
