GripTape

GripTape is a youth and adult-led organization that envisions a future in which youth-driven learning is a powerful force, playing a greater role for young people than that of formal learning environments — a world where all young people have the opportunity to pursue their own interests; demonstrate their confidence and competence by seizing their own learning; and where youth demand and are afforded respect for their own learning pursuits.

We offer youth-driven learning experiences by providing decision-making control, resources, respect, and authority to teenagers who have interests but often lack resources and opportunities to enable them to explore their passions, develop greater agency, and chart their paths to success. For 14–19-year-olds who are hungry to pursue a topic they're passionate about — whether it’s cosplay, landscaping, mask design, literacy for incarcerated people, anything they have a deep interest in! — we want to give them the support to deeply explore their passion and seize control of their own learning.
