Saint George Maronite Catholic Church dates back to the turn of the century in a period when there was an influx of emigrants from Lebanon who settled mainly in the Federal Hill area of Providence. They came from all parts of Lebanon such as Baan, Beirut, Besharre, Blouza, Dfoun, Eddee, Jebail, Kafarsghaab, Tripoli and Zouk. Most of them lived around the church which was the center of their religious and social life.
