South Boston Action Center

The South Boston Action Center plays an active role with the South Boston Youth Councils, working to decrease violence in the community, prevent youth substance abuse, and facilitate access to educational and community service opportunities. Along with participating in a number of ABCD programs like Head Start and ESOL, South Boston services and programs also include:

Fund-a-Kid - provides after-school employment during the academic year for at-risk, low-income youth Gardening 101 – teaches children how to work an outdoor garden in the heart of the city South Boston CAN Reduce Underage Drinking - uses environmental strategies to reduce underage access to alcohol Youth Development Assets Campaign – aims to reduce substance abuse in young people through strategies directed at teenagers, parents, teachers and local businesses that build on the strengths of South Boston youth Family Nurturing Program - provides support to families with young children
