Boulder Institute of Microfinance and Sustaintable Development

About Us

The Boulder Institute of Microfinance is a small, yet world class non-profit organization dedicated to increasing access for low income families in emerging countries to safe, affordable and easy to use formal financial services. Through access to savings, micro-loans and money transfers, poor families can reduce their vulnerabilities to life’s shocks and make progress toward reaching their family goals: better education, improved health, better shelter, stronger income generating activities and old age security. Over the past 18 years, Boulder Institute has offered annual microfinance training programs to more than 4,000 senior and mid-level staff of microfinance institutions, commercial banks, government agencies (both donors and central banks) and support organizations from more than 150 countries. Our training programs challenge professionals to engage in critical thinking around decisions they face in their microfinance activities and become familiar with the evidence behind success and failure in the provision of financial services.
