About Us
For more than 100 years, Oberlin Shansi has been committed to fostering international respect and understanding between the United States and the countries of Asia. Through educational and community programs, Shansi has empowered generations of participants to make constructive contributions to Asian and American institutions and communities.
Shansi partners with Oberlin College and Conservatory and with universities and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in China, India, Indonesia, and Japan. The defining programs offered by Shansi are: two-year fellowships for recent Oberlin graduates to live and work at partner institutions in Asia; faculty and staff exchanges among Oberlin and Asian partner institutions; and travel grants for Oberlin students to pursue independent research or service projects during winter term or summer.
