Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center & Henry Hudson Planetarium

  • Mission

The Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center and Henry Hudson Planetarium introduces the public to Albany's history and culture by developing education programs that encourage exploration of the cultural resources within the heritage area and the Capital Region.

This is achieved by including guided tours of historic downtown Albany, local history programs, and a wide variety of educational programs in the Henry Hudson Planetarium, an official NASA Space Place.

    About Us

The Albany Visitor Center hosts a myriad of school children throughout the year on field trips. Most commonly, the students range between the ages of PreK-5th grade.

The Visitor Center is home to the Henry Hudson Planetarium, where students are treated to lessons about the stars.

The Visitor Center also caters to history based lessons and projects, in particular enhancing student’s understanding of Albany’s role in early American colonization.
