About Us

Beijing will host the 29th Olympics and the 13th Paralympics in August and September 2008 respectively. In view of the enthusiasm and aspiration of various sectors in Hong Kong to be an active participant in the Olympics and Paralympics, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has been entrusted by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) to hold the Equestrian Events of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On 10 October 2005, BOCOG and HKSARG formed The Equestrian Committee (Hong Kong) of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (the Equestrian Committee), with the Chief Secretary as chairman, to plan and host the Equestrian Events of the 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympics.

The Equestrian Committee set up its executive arm in the form of a company – Equestrian Events (Hong Kong) of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Company Limited (the Equestrian Company) – to organise and host the Equestrian Events. Mr Lam Woon-kwong is the Chief Executive Officer of this Company. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Jockey Club is responsible for designing and constructing the competition venues.
